The renewal of Langdon Hall offered Mason Studio the opportunity to explore the hotel as a living, evolving ecosystem, where history, hospitality and daily life continuously shape one another. Rather than overwrite one of Canada’s most established country-house hotels with a completely new design, Mason approached the interiors as an evolution, bringing a renewed sense of ease to the guest experience while preserving the character that has defined the property for generations.

Across 35 guest rooms in the Cloister Wing, familiar architectural elements and wood-burning fireplaces provide the foundation. New furnishings, lighting, bathrooms, hospitality millwork and integrated technology bring a more current rhythm to the rooms, supporting rather than competing with the experience.

At the centre of the project is the redesigned 2,000-square-foot Carolinian Room. Sitting somewhere between a private salon, club lounge and event space, it can shift between meetings, dining, social gatherings and celebrations. Continuous banquettes create an intimate framework, while movable tables and freestanding seating allow the room to change with the occasion.

The result feels collected, connected and current. Returning guests may feel that Langdon Hall is lighter and more responsive without immediately identifying what has changed, while first-time guests encounter a tradition that feels alive in the present.
